The day the Ranfurly Shield came to school!

We were very lucky to have Mr Berry bring the Ranfurly Shield along to school to show us all.

We heard about some of the history of the shield and Mr Berry answered some of the questions we had.

(The Ranfurly Shield, colloquially known as the Log o' Wood, is a trophy in New Zealand's domestic rugby union competition. First played for in 1904, the Shield is based on a challenge system, rather than a league or knockout competition as with most football trophies.)

Here we all are, looking as proud as punch, with the shield!

Special thanks to Mr Berry!
